So who are the other candidates that are competing with Donna for the 24th Assembly District?
They are honorable people who just happen to be confused on the issues! Here is a summary of the other candidates and how they differ from Donna on the important issues.
We would like to present an accurate comparison of all the candidates' stances on the issues, but it has been hard to find publicly documented positions from Donna's opponents. Can you help? If you know of verifiable references to Donna's opponents' views, please send us an e-mail at comments@godonna.com. We will post any verifiable views as we receive them. Please check back to get updated information. If any of the other candidates are reading this, we implore you to make your positions known in a public forum, such as your campaign literature or web sites. It is only fair for the public to see what each of the candidates stands for, instead of hiding behind "fluff words". Haven't we had enough of politicians talking at us without saying anything?
Republican Opponents:
Suzanne Jackson
Little is known about Sue Jackson's positions on the issues. Her strategy seems to be to represent herself with lots of nice phrases like effective leadership, commitment to community, and independent thinker without giving any details about what her positions are. Maybe she is trying not to alienate anyone, by taking no positions. Haven't we had enough politicians sell themselves to us that way in the past? One issue that we do know her position on is the 2/3 super-majority for public bond measures that has been in place in California for over 100 years. She supports overturning this constitutional protection; opening the door to the higher long-term taxes that come with paying for public indebtedness.
Donna supports maintaining this constitutional protection for the property owners of the state of california. If a bond measure is worth commiting the public to years of higher taxes to pay back the bonds, then a sizable majority of the public will support it.
Steve Blanton
Like Sue Jackson, Steve has not made his position known on many of the issues yet, at least not in a public way. Steve has been an honorable member of the Los Gatos town council. Hey Steve, tell everyone where you stand! Let's have an open, honest, and publicly visible discussion of the issues!
Democratic Opponents:
( Both have given fundraisers for Barbara Boxer. Need I say more???? )Steve Glickman
Rebecca Cohn
At the Santa Clara County Medical Association interview of the candidates, Rebecca seemed to support the move to move government control of the medical industry.
