A MESSAGE FROM YOUR CANDIDATE

I believe that I can best represent you in the State Assembly.  Here's why.  I have years of experience in the high tech industry as a production planner in the wafer fabrication industry.  I am also multi-lingual.  I am fluent in Spanish, French and Italian.  I have a degree in Foreign Languages with a minor in Economics and International Marketing.  I will use these business and language skills to represent all the people of  the valley.

The Silicon Valley needs a representative in Sacramento who understands the how to balance the needs of families who live here with the needs of businesses to thrive.

As the only candidate who is a mother of a child in the public schools and a taxpayer, I realize that there is so much more that can be done to improve our quality of life.  As your elected representative I will focus my efforts on three areas.

  • Education
  • We must provide California students with a world class education.    Too much of the 26 billion dollars  spent on K-12 education  now goes to bureaucracy, not the classroom. We must change that.

     I propose:

    • 180 days of instruction in the 3 R's, not self-esteem psycho-babble.
    • Expand charter schools and parental choice
    • Require teacher competency testing in core subject areas
    • Merit pay for outstanding teachers
    • Simplify complicated funding formulas;  block grant funds to allow spending discretion at local level
  • Taxation
    • Government is too big.  Government spending is often wasteful.  Regulations are too intrusive.

      We need to:
      · Protect homeowners –keep the 2/3's requirement for approving new taxes
      · Eliminate  the marriage tax penalty at the state level
      · Lower taxes on stock sales to capital gains rate instead of ordinary income rate.
      · Put the government, that is now in "fat-city", on a low fat diet.

  • Transportation
    • We must take immediate action to relieve the frustration of motorists who are stuck in traffic.
      Let’s do the following:
      · Eliminate diamond lanes where under-utilized.
      · Use gasoline sales taxes on road improvements, not put them into the general fund
      · Improve bus service; it's flexible, responsive and less disruptive than fixed rail systems.
      · Support the Republican 20/20 vision plan for infrastructure  building and financing
These are just a few of the issues facing us as residents of California, and as your representative, I will work hard to find the best results for you!   For more information, please visit my web site at www.GoDonna.com. or call  (408) 402-0524.  Thanks again for your support.  Vote on March 7th!
